NOTES

LITTLE MAKOKLO CAMP lies in the heart of the Hwange National Park, in one of its best game viewing areas, overlooking a vibrant waterhole.

The camp's five rooms have en-suite facilities. Solar power is used for electricity ensuring a lighter environmental footprint. The living areas include a dining room, lounge, plunge pool and an open fire area for those convivial evening fireside tales.

There is a log pile 'tree house' hide overlooking the waterhole in front of camp where guests can enjoy wildlife viewing during the siesta hours.

FLY CAMPING & CANOEING – During the walking phase we will be travelling light. We will be supported by a vehicle and a small crew of camp staff who will leapfrog ahead daily to set up camp for the coming night.

The camp will comprise small sleeping tents (3 x 3 m large), and bedrolls.

Bucket showers will be available for a “tub” in the evening.

RUCKOMECHI CAMP lies on the banks of the Zambezi, shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees and with a superb view of the mountains of Africa's Great Rift Valley across the river in Zambia.

Ruckomechi accommodates guests in six spacious en-suite tented units, all of which overlook the Zambezi River. Each tent has both indoor and outdoor showers, and the camp boasts a favourite amongst guests: its outdoor 'bath-with-a-view' in a secluded, scenic spot. The central dining, bar, library and lounge areas face the escarpment and are connected to the rest of the camp by low-level walkways that minimise our environmental impact. There is a separate deck with infinity pool for swimming and sun bathing, and an inviting, cushion-strewn star gazing deck.

TOKA LEYA CAMP overlooks the mighty Zambezi, sitting under a shady canopy of jackalberry and waterberry trees. The islands in front of camp are intriguing and part of the braided channel of the Zambezi with some rapids, a main channel and fringing dense vegetation.

The camp consists of 12 safari-style tents, each en-suite with a view of the magnificent Zambezi River and some of its islands. The camp's dining and bar area is set beneath a shaded canopy of trees overlooking the River and swimming pool. Activities available at Toka Leya include a tour of the Falls on the Zambian side, game drives, river cruises and guided walks. At additional cost, guests may also enjoy sunset cruises, helicopter flights, elephant back riding, canoeing, white water rafting and bungey jumping amongst other possibilities.
