DAY 1:

ADELAIDE / BAROSSA VALLEY

Commencing with a tour through the charming city of Adelaide, you are driven through the Adelaide Hills wine region and out to the Barossa Valley.

DAY 2:

BAROSSA VALLEY

The Barossa's culinary traditions are obvious at the numerous butchers, bakeries, restaurants, farmers’ market and wineries, while nineteenth century European influences are reflected in the churches, shops and homes in each of the pretty towns.

Today you visit Penfolds Nuriootpa Winery to make your very own blend of wine. Try your hand at blending grenache, shiraz and mourvedre, just like Penfold’s own Bin 138, to suit your personal taste.

Indulge in private tastings at a variety of cellar doors throughout the Valley, from well known wineries to the more boutique in nature. A visit to the Barossa Valley would not be complete without stopping at Maggie Beers Farmshop to taste the range of seasonal treats of the region in a beautiful setting, perched on the side of a huge dam surrounded by vines and olives.

A dinner reservation will be made for this evening at the award-winning Appellation restaurant.

DAY 3:

BAROSSA VALLEY / FLINDERS RANGES

Drive from the Barossa Valley, through the Clare Valley, to the base of the Flinders Ranges and your own piece of the outback; a 60,000 acre sheep ‘station’. It is one of Australia’s most ancient landscapes, moulded by hundreds of millions of years of geological activity, and also home to some of the most spectacular outback scenery in the country.

DAY 4:

FLINDERS RANGES

Immerse yourselves in the varied habitats of the Flinders Ranges with your host. From dry creek beds, isolated waterholes, lined with 1,000 year old river red gums to craggy ridge lines and rolling hills covered in cypress pines to the ancient ramparts of Wilpena Pound, this is some of the most stunning walking country in Australia.

Your guide will show you secret spots on the property and recount stories of the people, indigenous inhabitants, explorers and settlers, who have created the human history of this area. There are remote and long forgotten yards that were used by cattle rustlers in years gone by, shepherds huts and old red gums whose hollowed trunks provided shelter and sustenance for indigenous people.

Following your walk you have time to relax around the campfire with a cool drink and recount your adventure. A delicious campfire meal will be served under the stars.

DAY 5:

FLINDERS RANGES / ADELAIDE

Today you drive or fly from the Flinders Ranges back to Adelaide and continue with your journey.

EPIC SUGGESTS

... sleeping under the stars in the Flinders Ranges on a purpose built swag platform. Also, if you are combining this trip with Kangaroo Island, nothing beats a scenic charter flight from the Flinders Ranges, all the way down to Kangaroo Island.
